Local Youth Recognized by The First Tee of Syracuse for Outstanding Academic Achievement
Syracuse, September 12, 2012 – Sixty-eight youth from The First Tee of Syracuse are being recognized for their outstanding academic achievement through The First Tee A/B Honor Roll program. These young people are among more than 6,500 participants at The First Tee chapters in the U.S. and select international locations who will be recognized for academic achievement.
The A/B Honor Roll, sponsored by Founding Corporate Partner Shell Oil Company, is a recognition given each semester to The First Tee participants who have made all A’s and B’s on their report cards. The First Tee acknowledges this academic accomplishment of all young people in the program by awarding each one a Certificate of Achievement. The First Tee of [chapter]’s programs help young people learn life skills and develop core values on the golf course yet encourage them to transfer what they learn to other areas of their life, including school. Dr. Jim Wiggins, Program Director said “Almost 30% of the young people in our program are being awarded this certificate at an Awards event tonight. We congratulate them and are very proud of their accomplishments.”
